HERE AT HOME

INSIDE LOOK AT ITS CREATION

I've been wanting to write this song for a while now. A song, that allows any listener to apply its underlying purpose, or reflection, to their personal lives and circumstances.

The first time you listen to the song, or the 'initial perspective', is simply recognizing and appreciating the people within our lives. One of the phrases within the song, "Brothers and Sisters, you've had my back", has several underlying applications, such as; siblings, squads, crews, posies, coworkers, communities, etc. There are so many instances, where this is a silent appreciation. So, I thought I'd voice it here, in this song.

Now, when you get to the end of the song, the song takes on a whole new perspective (or confirms any suspicions you may have had from the chorus). You now realize that the focused perspective of the song, was written from the moment of our passing and reflecting on those individuals, that have had the biggest impressions on our lives. Maybe it's a regret for not saying it when the chance was there... Or perhaps an affirmation of that 'silent appreciation'. The fact is, we (nearly) never know, just how close we are to our final days. But, when that time comes, one of the most important values in our lives, are the people within it.

Verse 1

Mom and Dad, you’d always say,

“Just be you, and do it your way.”

I’ll be here, when you get home.

Brothers and Sisters, you’ve had my back,

So many times, I’ve needed that.

It’d be good to see you, when you come home.

My best friends, that have made me laugh,

At times I’ve felt, you were all I had.

Call me, when you get home.

Chorus 1

I don’t want to let you go.

So many things, I want you to know.

This won’t be, the last we talk.

But I'm headed home.

When I hear you call my name,

You’ll hear my voice, in the rain,

Telling you the things you need to hear,

To ease your pain.

I’ll be here, here at home.

Verse 2

Sons and Daughters, you bring to life,

The precious gifts, that money can’t buy.

I’ll be waiting for you, till you get home.

And to you, My Love, my heart is yours,

As it always has, been an open door.

I’ll be here, missing you, till you get home.

You’ve always been, my other half,

Bringing out, the best I had.

I don’t think I could have made it, on my own.

Chorus 2

I don’t want to let you go.

So many things, I want you to know.

This won’t be, the last we talk.

I'm headed home.

When I hear you call my name,

You’ll hear my voice, in the rain,

Telling you the things you need to hear,

To ease your pain.

I’ll be here, here at home.

I’ll be here, here at home.

Outro

I want you to know, I'm just a thought away.

Even though I've passed Heavens gates.

I don’t mind waiting here, ‘till you get home.

Thank you for you interest. If you would like to share this song, please do. However, I'd challenge you, that when you do, maybe call someone out that has made an impression on your life. Or, explain what this song means to you and how it relates to your life.

Stay safe and remember, that some people in this world 'feel' alone, as if they don't have anyone. Could it be, that they simply haven't picked up on that 'silent appreciation', mentioned above?
