WHAT'S MY NAME
© 2020 Jason Rector Publishing LLC
It’s in the blood of my roots,
My destined desire,
To be the best I can, every inch of a man,
That my father had been prior.
Said, there’s only one way, to get ahead today,
Keep workin’ through the pain.
Don’t look at me, and judge what you see,
It’s the trials I overcame.
…What’s my name?
I might be that lotto winner,
Or a drummer in a band,
Or a waiter at the diner,
It doesn’t matter what I am.
I’m gonna stand proud, gonna get loud,
We’re all one in the same.
…What’s my name?
I was born with my fists swinging,
Proud of who I am.
There’s no stoppin’ what’s comin’, gonna keep on strummin’,
Try to keep up if you can…
My name is my story,
It’s everything I am.
It’s the one my mother gave me,
And I’m doin’ the best I can.
Now saddle up, grab your big boy boots,
Let’s spark up this flame. What’s my name?
For those of you that don’t know it,
Take a look around.
I’m ready today and I’m here to stay,
Ain’t noithin’ gonna keep me down.
It’s a world of unfair game,
Expectations with poor aim.
Not a game of fame, or who’s left to blame,
And not lookin’ for acclaim.
…What’s my name?
I might be a racecar driver,
Or making ‘ol moonshine,
Or a brave firefighter,
Or launching Falcon 9.
I’m gonna stand proud, gonna get loud,
We’re all one in the same.

There’s no stoppin’ what’s comin’, gonna keep on strummin’,
